learn about Cyclamen Foundation
The story of the Cyclamen NGO began with a training course that was held at one of the juvenile prisons in Lebanon. During this course, one of the organization's founders had the opportunity to meet a young child who had been locked up for an extended period of time. Unfortunately, this child had no one to advocate for him, and little hope of regaining his freedom and building a better life. Determined to help, the founder began a tireless effort to work with all the parties involved to secure the child's release. Despite the many challenges, the founder was able to successfully secure the child's freedom. This experience was a turning point, and it inspired the founder to take action and establish an effective charitable organization that could make a meaningful impact on the lives of young people in similar situations. Thus, the Cyclamen NGO was born, with a mission to provide support and opportunities to children and young adults who are facing difficult circumstances.

The establishment of the Cyclamen NGO was a collaborative effort by a dedicated group of founding members who were committed to making a positive impact in their community. They began by developing a comprehensive plan for the organization's future, which included identifying specific objectives, outlining the scope of their work, and establishing a clear strategy for achieving their goals. To ensure that the NGO was fully prepared to begin its humanitarian charity work, the founding members devoted a great deal of time and energy to acquiring all the necessary equipment, supplies and resources required for the organization's operations. This included investing in necessary equipment, facilities, and resources to carry out their programs, as well as providing training to staff and volunteers on how to use and maintain them properly. In addition to this, the founders also invested their own personal effort to prepare the site where the NGO would be based. They worked diligently to ensure that the space was functional, safe and suitable for the needs of the organization and the communities they would be serving. Once everything was in place, the NGO began to roll out its programs and activities. One of the first programs that was implemented was providing training courses to the local orphanage. These courses were designed to help the staff and children learn new skills, and improve their overall well-being. The training included various topics such as education, health, nutrition, and personal development, and it aimed to empower and strengthen the capacity of the local community. Through these early programs and activities, the Cyclamen NGO was able to make a meaningful impact on the lives of the children and young adults in the community, and it served as the foundation for many more successful programs to come in the future.

Our goal is not just to provide temporary assistance, but to work with the communities we serve to find long-term and sustainable solutions that will have a lasting impact.

We are committed to collaborate with other organizations and partners in the fields of humanitarian aid, human rights, health, education, and environment with the same values and ethics.

In this way, we believe that, by working responsibly, honestly, lovingly, and transparently, we can make a real and meaningful difference in the lives of the children and young adults we serve and build a better future for them and their communities.

Where everyone has access to basic needs and services, with opportunities for growth and development. We aim to build a community where all individuals can live with dignity and humanity, free from poverty, ignorance and homelessness.

At Cyclamen NGO, we believe that investing in the development of the Lebanese community at all levels is essential for building a brighter future for everyone. Our values statement reflects this commitment and guides our actions and decisions as an organization.

Specifically, we are dedicated to supporting the “enlightened minds” and “good people” within the Lebanese community. We understand that these individuals have the potential to drive positive change and make a real impact in their communities. By providing them with the resources, skills, and opportunities they need to succeed, we can help to build a more resilient, inclusive, and equitable society.

To achieve this, we strive to:

  • Invest in education and training programs that empower individuals with the knowledge and skills they need to succeed
  • Support social and economic development programs that improve the lives of disadvantaged and marginalized communities
  • Encourage and support civic engagement and leadership development
  • Foster a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship
  • Promote cultural, social, and economic integration

By aligning our actions with these values, we believe that we can make a meaningful and lasting impact on the Lebanese community, and contribute to building a more prosperous and inclusive society.

It’s important to mention that for this values statement to be comprehensive and professional it should also include the ethical and moral principles that the organization follows. As well as, how the values will be implemented and measured within the organization.

After preparing the legal papers required from the Lebanese Ministry of Interior, and as a result of the good conduct of all the founders, the Lebanese Government agreed to give Cyclamen the license (Statement of Notice and Recognition No. 1212) in 2008 to implement its lofty objectives.

Obtaining the license was a testament to the good conduct and dedication of the founders, and it was an indication of the Lebanese Government’s recognition of the important work that Cyclamen aimed to accomplish. The license granted the NGO the legal right to operate and implement its programs and activities, which was an essential step in achieving its mission of supporting children and young adults in need.

Cyclamen NGO was authorized to carry out the humanitarian and social activities, it was recognized by the State as a non-profit organization. This allowed Cyclamen to access funding and support from various sources, such as international organizations, foundations, and private donors. This recognition also helped to increase the trust of the community and society in the organization, and in the work it does to support and empower vulnerable groups.
